St Paul's Close

House Extension & Reconfiguration

The client wanted to extend this 1960s house to provide an additional bedroom and improved living space. The existing house has a series of poor-quality extensions which are unsuitable for modern living and restrict daylight into the existing galley kitchen.

The proposals include the replacement of these with a two-storey extension with open-plan kitchen-diner with creating a stronger connection to the large garden. Upstairs, a generous master bedroom with en-suite is to be provided, with a picture window framing views of the mature trees at the end of the garden, with bespoke joinery maximising the use of the space.

The materials take cues from the existing house, with special brick detailing to create visual interest and relief to the facade.
